Ask IBKR – Client Portal

Ask IBKR is an AI-powered tool that delivers instant portfolio insights through natural language inquiries. The tool can be accessed from any screen within IBKR Desktop and Client Portal and delivers fast, actionable insights.

Ask IBKR supports a wide range of portfolio queries across five key areas:

1. Portfolio Metrics: Compare performance against benchmarks, identify valuation changes over time, and highlight periods of outperformance or underperformance.
2. Allocation Analysis: Analyze sector exposure, compare returns across asset classes, and assess performance by instrument.
3. Holdings Exploration: Identify top positions, review geographic allocations, and dividend-paying securities.
4. Activity Tracking: Review trade history, monitor interest and fees, and analyze cash inflows and outflows.
5. Performance Attribution: See how sectors contribute to return vs indices, like the S&P 500.

Accessing Ask IBKR in IBKR Desktop

To access the Ask IBKR Tool in Client Portal, click on the gradient circle icon in the upper right corner of any screen, to the right of the search bar.

The Ask IBKR tool will populate as a new window on your screen. There is a drop-down menu on the right to select the account and time period you wish to run the query for. The center of the screen contains prepopulated portfolio insight questions. Select from the prepopulated questions or search for additional portfolio insights using the search bar below.

In this example, the investor will type “How did my portfolio perform last month?” into the search bar. As you type, Ask IBKR offers intelligent query suggestions and auto-completes key parameters like benchmarks, time frames, and account selection so you can ask questions faster.

The resulting analysis provides an interactive graph of portfolio performance compared to benchmark for the selected time period. Hover your cursor over the graph to view portfolio performance on specific days. Below the chart are tables of additional portfolio performance data.
