Forecast Contract Idea: US Gas Prices Below $3.20: Oct. 27, 2025

Despite a light list of forecast contracts that expire tomorrow, this week is certainly eventful even as the US government shutdown continues for its 27th day. Indeed, the calendar includes interest rate decisions from the Federal Reserve and from the central banks of the European Union, Canada and Japan. Additionally, we’ll also have the China Containerized Freight, Baltic Dry and Weekly Economic indices. Finally, Singapore’s Overnight Rate Average and the EU’s Gross Domestic Product and Consumer Price Indices are on deck as well.

But for tomorrow, US gasoline prices are set to be released, thanks to the Department of Energy, which has been publishing data despite the government’s closure. The “Nos” at $3.20 and $3.40 are safe plays with attractive risk-reward profiles in my opinion, as the former threshold hasn’t been exceeded in over a year (see chart below). They are going for $0.94 and $0.96.
