Is Healthcare Still Affordable?

Dear investor,

Looking after your health is becoming increasingly important, and most of us are understandably very interested in staying well. However, health also has to be paid for. In Germany, there is statutory health insurance, which is not regulated in the same way as it is in the USA. Citizens overseas have to pay for many services themselves and take out appropriate insurance. It is only in very exceptional cases that the costs of medical operations are covered by other agencies.

One of the largest insurance providers in this area is UnitedHealth Group. This company is a private health insurance provider which is mainly financed by the US federal government.

However, the company does not only earn its money from insurance. Its business portfolio also includes healthcare services and technological developments.

You are probably wondering whether you should get involved in such a company construct at all and what the long-term outlook is. We will show you the current situation and what to expect in the coming months.

Long-term trend intact, despite periods of turbulence

The overall long-term upward trend is undoubtedly positive. Interim corrections can sometimes be quite severe for this stock. For example, the price fell by three-quarters in 2008 and more than halved this year. On the other hand, the upward trend over many years is quite impressive.

Upward movement peaks at the end of the year

While the year-end rally on the stock markets usually begins in early October, this can also be observed at UnitedHealth from October 8 onwards. By the end of the year, an above-average positive ratio of 32 to 8 years had built up. In the 32 positive years, an average return of over 16% was achieved. In the negative 8 years, on the other hand, only a good 11% was lost on average.

Very positive development even in the shorter term

Over the same period from October 8, the situation over the last 25 years has been equally impressive. In 21 of these years, an average profit of almost 14% was achieved, while the four negative years only recorded an average loss of just under 8.5%.

Even though the performance has been very negative so far this year, the situation still looks quite positive for the seasonal effect. Perhaps it is precisely this decline and the subsequent bottoming out that gives hope for a counter-movement.

There are many reasons for the seasonal increase

If you look for the reasons for the strong year-end phase, you will find various fundamental factors. In the third quarter in particular, results are often better than analysts expect. The period analyzed is also the most important time for attracting new members. Last but not least, no new regulatory decisions are made at this time, so the company has already been able to adjust to changes from the first half of the year.

Conclusion:

The technical situation (the stock has also formed a double bottom), the fundamental outlook, and, in particular, the seasonal situation all make the upcoming period particularly attractive. An investment is therefore likely to yield high returns based on all approaches to analysis. Nevertheless, you should not forego appropriate money management and a stop price, which you can also determine using Seasonax.
