IBKR offers clients a way to trade cryptocurrencies alongside stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds. Cryptocurrency trade execution and custody are provided by Paxos Trust Company or Zero Hash LLC depending on your account type and country of legal residence. Cryptocurrency trading is also available through Interactive Brokers Hong Kong and is powered by OSL Digital Securities.

Please note that Interactive Brokers limits clients from opening new cryptocurrency positions above certain thresholds to ensure cryptocurrencies remain a complement to our core business. Clients will be allowed to open positions in their Crypto Accounts up to:
Cryptocurrency trades can be placed in several places on the mobile app. For example, tapping symbol on the Portfolio page or Watchlist twice will bring up an information window with the ability to tap Sell or Buy at the bottom of the page and create an order ticket.
If the investor wants to trade an instrument that is not on a Watchlist or in their portfolio they can tap on the center button with two arrows on it to bring up the Trade screen. On the Trade screen they can search for a cryptocurrency in the top bar or tap on Buy order or Sell order in the Toolbox below.
Users with Crypto Basic trading permissions can trade from 3 AM EST Sunday to 4 PM EST Friday. The regular trading session is from 00:00 to 16:00 EST, and the late trading session is from 16:00:01 to 00:00 EST. Trades occurring in the late session will appear on the next day’s statement. Users with Crypto Plus trading permissions can trade cryptocurrencies 24/7.
In this example the investor is going to search for Bitcoin and top results in all products will appear. Select “Crypto” along the top of the screen to drill down into the specific product type. The investor will choose the product they wish to trade and if they wish to trade through Paxos or Zero Hash. Tap on the product line to bring up the information and chart page. At the bottom, the Investor can tap Sell or Buy to bring up the order ticket.
In the order ticket the investor can adjust the quantity, order type, price, and time-in-force. When ready the investor can select Preview to preview the order or slide the Toggle at the bottom of the screen to submit the order and they will see confirmation that the order was submitted.
