IBKR offers clients a way to trade cryptocurrencies alongside stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds. Cryptocurrency trade execution and custody are provided by Paxos Trust Company or Zero Hash LLC depending on your account type and country of legal residence. Cryptocurrency trading is also available through Interactive Brokers Hong Kong and is powered by OSL Digital Securities.

Please note that Interactive Brokers limits clients from opening new cryptocurrency positions above certain thresholds to ensure cryptocurrencies remain a complement to our core business. Clients will be allowed to open positions in their Crypto Accounts up to:
In the IBKR Desktop application, if the cryptocurrency you wish to trade is already in a Watchlist, you can select the instrument and the Price Panel on the right reflects data for the asset you selected. You can also select an instrument from your Portfolio, the Financial Instrument Quote list, or use the Search bar in the upper left of the application.
Users with Crypto Basic trading permissions can trade from 3 AM EST Sunday to 4 PM EST Friday. The regular trading session is from 00:00 to 16:00 EST, and the late trading session is from 16:00:01 to 00:00 EST. Trades occurring in the late session will appear on the next day’s statement. Users with Crypto Plus trading permissions can trade cryptocurrencies 24/7.
In this example, we will enter BTC in the search bar. Top results will be displayed or select “Crypto” along the top of the screen to drill down into the specific product type. The investor will select the product they wish to trade and if they wish to trade through Paxos or Zero Hash.
From the Price Panel on the right side of the page, select Buy or Sell and the Order Ticket will appear. Fill in the Quantity, Description, and Time in Force details. Once the order details are filled in, you Preview or Save the order. When ready to submit, select the Submit Buy Order button and the order will be transmitted.
