Getting Started with IBKR Mobile on the iPhone®

Lesson 1 of 9
Duration 3:43
Level Beginner
Close Navigation

IBKR Mobile provides an intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface for investors to access their trading account, configure two-factor authentication and monitor their account all from their mobile device. In this lesson we will review:

  1. How to download IBKR Mobile on the iPhone
  2. Navigating the app and
  3. Configuring app settings

Downloading the IBKR Mobile app

Investors can download the IBKR Mobile app on their iPhone from the Apple App Store. In the App Store, search for IBKR Mobile and tap GET. Interactive Brokers’ offers additional trading apps, including GlobalTrader and IMPACT. This course will review the IBKR Mobile app but for further information on GlobalTrader or the IMPACT app, please see the dedicated Traders’ Academy courses.

Once installation is complete, tap OPEN to launch the IBKR Mobile app or locate the app in the iPhone App Library.

Navigating the IBKR Mobile app

The initial page of the app provides investors with two buttons:

  • I Have an Account

The bottom of the login page contains options for IB Key Authentication and Banking, which we will cover in later lessons. Investors can toggle on Paper Trading to login to their simulated paper trading account.

At the top of the screen, the investor enters their username and password and taps the login button. Along the bottom of the app is a menu bar with icons for Portfolio, Watchlist, Trade, Account, and More. The investor can tap any of these icons to switch between pages. We will go into further detail on these pages in later lessons.

Configuring App Settings

To configure app settings, the investor taps More, scrolls down, and taps Settings. A list will appear with Account Settings, Trading Settings, Display, Notifications, Security, Localization, and Advanced.

Account Settings will allow the invest to edit their profile, change their password, subscribe to live market data, and manage trading permissions.

Trading Settings allows investors to set trading presets for default orders by product class.

Display allows the investor to choose between light and dark mode, and enable or disable additional general configuration.

Notifications allows investors to manage and create alerts and delivery settings.

Security gives investors the option to enable Remember My Username, Auto-Reconnect, Read-Only Access, Privacy Mode, SSL, and use Two-Factor Authentication.

Localization provides options for color localization as well as language settings and display positions in base currency.

Advanced Settings is used to upload diagnostics in the event the investor needs to provide logs to our technical assistance team.

In later lessons we will review trading, monitoring the portfolio, creating watchlists, configuring two-factor authentication through IB Key, and more.

Why its say selling kore than 1% of us midcap ?????
It cant let me close my position

    • Interactive Brokers

Hello, thank you for reaching out. You are receiving an error when trying to close a position in a US Midcap stock due to exceeding the 1% ADV (Average Daily Volume) threshold.

The 1% ADV rule restricts the sale of any US Midcap position to 1% of the average daily trading volume, measured over the prior 90 calendar days. This is done to comply with regulations regarding the sale of unregistered securities and to minimize price impact.

To close a position subject to the 1% ADV rule, you would need to break up the sale into multiple orders below the 1% ADV threshold. You can check the ADV value in the product information for the stock.

If you need assistance determining the appropriate order quantities to remain under the 1% threshold, please contact the IBKR Trade Desk for guidance: http://spr.ly/IBKR_ClientServicesCampus

How to transfer another ISA fund to IB ISA?

    • Interactive Brokers

Hello, thank you for asking. To transfer an existing ISA to IBKR, you will need to submit a transfer instruction to IBKR via the Transfer & Pay funding page in Client Portal. IBKR will then instruct your existing ISA manager to transfer your investments and/or cash into your IBKR Stocks and Shares ISA.
Where IBKR does not support all your investments held at your existing ISA Manager, you can either liquidate these investments yourself prior to submitting your transfer instruction or instruct IBKR to liquidate them on your behalf as part of the transfer request.
Only full account transfers are supported, not partial transfers. Position transfers are available from certain ISA managers – when requesting a transfer, supported providers will have a position transfer option.
There are no transfer charges from IBKR but your existing ISA manager may charge a fee.
