Solana was built for high-speed, low-cost blockchain applications. SOL tokens are issued through Proof-of-Stake and are used for fees and staking. Solana’s blockchain emphasizes speed and throughput through the use of Proof-of-History + Proof-of-Stake, enabling extremely fast transaction processing (~400ms). This high throughput makes it suitable for real-time apps like high-frequency trading DEX and gaming.

Solana gained traction due to its fast settlement and growing application ecosystem. Users may trade assets, interact with games, or use real-time applications.

Settlement on the Solana blockchain often completes within seconds.
