SEMICONDUCTOR TARIFFS: The Trump administration is considering broad new semiconductor tariffs that could extend to chip-containing products such as laptops and data-center servers, potentially raising AI infrastructure costs while linking tariff relief to U.S. manufacturing investment, Politico’s Ari Hawkins and Gabby Miller report. The administration is also mulling a phase-in period for the new tariffs, people familiar with the matter say. Publicly traded companies in the space include AMD (AMD), Intel (INTC), Marvell (MRVL), Microchip (MCHP), Micron (MU), Nvidia (NVDA), Qualcomm (QCOM) and Texas Instruments (TXN).
GRID EQUIPMENT: President Trump signed an emergency order that bars the U.S. purchase or installation of certain foreign-made, bulk-power system electrical equipment, and associated software, where it could pose cybersecurity or operational risks, Jennifer Dlouhy of Bloomberg reports, citing a White House official. Publicly traded companies in the solar space include Array Technologies (ARRY), Canadian Solar (CSIQ), Emeren (SOL), Enphase Energy (ENPH), FTC Solar (FTCI), First Solar (FSLR), JinkoSolar (JKS), Maxeon Solar (MAXN), Shoals Technologies (SHLS), SolarEdge (SEDG), SunPower (SPWR) and Sunrun (RUN).
DRUG PRICING DEALS: The Trump administration is set to announce new drug pricing agreements with several midsized biotechs, trading Medicaid discounts tied to international prices for exemptions from certain Medicare pricing pilots and, in some cases, tariff relief, Bloomberg’s Nyah Phengsitthy, Rachel Cohrs Zhang, and Madison Muller report. Publicly traded companies in the space include Neurocrine Biosciences (NBIX), Exelixis (EXEL), Alnylam (ALNY), BioMarin (BMRN), United Therapeutics (UTHR), Ionis (IONS), Bio-Techne (TECH), and Alkermes (ALKS).
DATA-SHARING DEALS: The Trump administration has struck data-sharing deals with OpenAI, Google (GOOGL), Meta (META), Amazon (AMZN), and other tech companies to track how AI is affecting jobs and hiring, Courtenay Brown of Axios reports. The Labor Department has signed memorandums of understanding with “a lot of these tech companies,” acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling told Axios.
