Gas Prices Could Exceed the $4 Average This Week: March 27, 2026

Gasoline prices could come in ahead of the $4 average this week in the Department of Energy report scheduled for Tuesday, March 31. Trends have been painful for consumers at the pump, with costs rising for 10 consecutive weeks beginning on the seven-day period ending on January 19. The most recent publication delivered a headline of $3.961, and it’s very likely that we could cross $4.00 next week, marking the 11th print in a row of increases. But $4.05 is a stretch, as the contract asking if charges will exceed that threshold is priced at just $0.13, while there’s an 85% chance of a number that doesn’t arrive north of that level.
