This morning 9,750 January 16 ’26 30/35 puts spreads traded in in Agios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Symbol: AGIO) for $2.75. The investor most likely bought the 35 puts and sold the 30 with a stock reference of $40.29 at the time of the trade.

The open interest in the 30 put was 10,000 this morning so it is possible that the investors rolled their position from the 30s to the 35 puts but generally traders roll to another expiration, so it is more likely that this was an opening spread.

The investor may be speculating on a downside move later in the year and wants to capitalize on it by putting on this spread. AGIO is currently trading at $40.73. AGIO has a 52-week high of $40.96 and a 52-week low of $23.42.

Again thanks for these posts, I find them very interesting and occasionally have based trades on them when the intent was clear. I’ll be checking the OI on the 30’s tomrrow!
