The Interactive Brokers News & Research interface allows the investor to find comprehensive news and research coverage in a single, simplified interface. Interactive Brokers provides their clients with free access to over 60 industry-leading sources, discounted research subscriptions and an ad-free reading environment. The Interactive Brokers News & Research tool is available in the sleek new IBKR Desktop as well as the Trader Workstation, IBKR Mobile, and Client and Advisors Portals.

To access the News & Research interface in the IBKR Desktop just click on the icon on the left side of the screen.

Within the News & Research interface there are five screens: Daily Overview, Portfolio News, Watchlist News, Read Later, and Browse. The investor can also manage their news subscriptions choose the language.

As someone interested in the markets, I like to look at the Daily Overview page several times during the day. The Daily Overview page displays timely coverage of news on symbols in the investor’s portfolio, watchlists, and recently viewed or traded. The Daily Overview also highlights companies in the news and has specific research highlighted for the investor.

There is also an event calendar that is present on the right side of the screen in the Daily Overview, Portfolio News, Watchlist News, and Browse pages. The calendar allows the investor to focus on earning, economic, dividend, or IPO events in the US, Europe, or Asia in an intuitive user interface. There is also a heat map matrix for performance by sector that tracks the corresponding ETF for that sector, for example clicking on Financials will bring up the Fundamental Explorer tool populate with IYF.

The Portfolio and Watchlist pages allow for easy sorting between news, research reports, market commentary, press releases, filings, takeaways, transcripts, and RSS with a click of a button on the table of contents. If it’s earnings season and the investor would like to see the transcript of earnings calls for companies in their profile, they click on transcripts, and it will be populated with all the information they are looking for available for the symbols in their portfolio or watchlists.

There are times when the investor will want to see any news available for the symbols they have in their portfolio or watchlist and there are other times when the investor wants to research a specific company. The News & Research Advanced Search feature makes it easy for the investor to drill down into a specific company and choosing the content type, news source, read time, date range, and other inputs.

The investor can even save the advanced search criteria to be reused for other searches in the future.

The IBKR News & Research Interface Browse page lets the investor search by asset class or narrow down the search to sectors, regions, economic subjects, and other topical information.

The News & Research interface lets the investor cut through the noise and see the news that is the most relevant for them.
