Here are the latest developments in the U.S.–Israel–Iran war on Tuesday at 7 AM ET, as the conflict enters its eleventh day. On Monday, President Donald Trump said the war against Iran is “pretty much” complete and could end soon, claiming Tehran’s military and missile capabilities have been severely weakened. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded that it, not Washington, will decide when the war ends.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian said that at least 1,255 people have been killed in Iran since the war began on February 28, reported Al Jazeera.
The Kremlin said Vladimir Putin has proposed several options to mediate and ease tensions in the conflict during a recent call with Donald Trump, according to spokesman Dmitry Peskov. While details were not disclosed, Russia said the proposals remain on the table, and it is ready to help reduce tensions in the Middle East, reported Al Jazeera.
Azerbaijan has sent humanitarian aid to Iran, signaling a conciliatory move after an alleged Iranian drone attack raised fears the Middle East conflict could spill into the Caucasus. The aid shipment followed a phone call between the two countries’ presidents, amid longstanding Iranian accusations that Israel uses Azerbaijani territory for intelligence activities, reported Al Jazeera.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued an urgent alert to residents of Tyre and Sidon, warning that it will soon strike Hezbollah-linked infrastructure and urging people in nearby buildings to evacuate immediately and move at least 300 meters away for their safety.
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, accused EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen of hypocrisy after she said Iranians deserve freedom and the right to decide their future, alleging she has supported policies that enable U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran.
Australia will support Gulf countries and protect its citizens against Iranian threats, with PM Anthony Albanese announcing the deployment of a long-range E-7A Wedgetail surveillance aircraft and personnel for four weeks to secure regional airspace. Additionally, advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles will be sent to the UAE after a call with its president, to aid collective self-defense, The Guardian reported.
Lebanese armed group Hezbollah reported multiple rocket attacks targeting northern Israel and southern Lebanon, including Al-Malikiyah, a “newly established site” in Jabal al-Bat, Israeli troops near al-Abbad, and a site in Tell el-Hamames near Khiam, reported Al Jazeera.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said Seoul cannot stop the U.S. from redeploying weapons, including Patriot missiles, to the Middle East amid reports that the U.S forces in Korea are shipping some weapons out of the country. South Korea hosts ~28,500 U.S. troops and key air-defense systems. Lee stressed this won’t weaken deterrence against North Korea, given South Korea’s strong forces, reported Reuters.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in southern Lebanon located and dismantled a Hezbollah rocket launcher used to fire at Israel, and killed a Hezbollah militant involved in the attacks.
Energy ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday to discuss releasing oil reserves to address supply disruptions caused by the war in Iran. Finance ministers discussed the idea Monday but made no final decision, though sources said the talks have been positive, with any coordinated action likely after the energy ministers’ meeting, reported CNBC.
