Carl Coe, the Department of Energy chief of staff, provided more details of a non-binding commitment made by Japan in October to fund $550B in U.S. projects, including as much as $80B for the construction of new reactors made by Westinghouse Electric. Coe noted that the U.S. government plans to buy and own as many as 10 large nuclear reactors, which could be paid for with the money pledged by Japan, reported Bloomberg’s Ari Natter and Will Wade. Coe is quoted by Bloomberg as having said at an energy conference hosted by the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council that “the role of having the government involved in private markets is sacrosanct – you just don’t do it. But this is a national emergency.” Publicly traded companies in the nuclear energy space include Oklo (OKLO), Nuscale Power (SMR), Nano Nuclear Energy (NNE), Constellation Energy (CEG), BWX Technologies (BWXT), Centrus Energy (LEU), Amentum (AMTM) and Cameco (CCJ).
On social media X, Elon Musk wrote, “Most people don’t know that Tesla has had an advanced AI chip and board engineering team for many years. That team has already designed and deployed several million AI chips in our cars and data centers. These chips are what enable Tesla to be the leader in real-world AI. The current version in cars is AI4, we are close to taping out AI5 and are starting work on AI6. Our goal is to bring a new AI chip design to volume production every 12 months. We expect to build chips at higher volumes ultimately than all other AI chips combined. Read that sentence again, as I’m not kidding. These chips will profoundly change the world in positive ways, saving millions of lives due to safer driving and providing advanced medical care to all people via Optimus.”
Lucid Group (LCID) announced the launch of the Lucid Gravity Touring, the newest addition to its Lucid Gravity SUV lineup. “Starting at $79,900, Lucid Gravity Touring now offers Lucid’s signature blend of space, performance, and efficiency to a broader audience.
