Turns Out Software Isn’t Dead

Software stocks are back in play.

It’s been a volatile few weeks — sharp selloffs followed by aggressive rallies. Big swings in both directions. The kind of price action that makes people uncomfortable.

But that’s exactly the point.

Extreme two-way volatility tends to show up near turning points.

Put it into perspective:

The last time Software had a week outperforming the S&P 500 like this… was 2002.

The last time it underperformed like this… also 2002.

That was the period when the market was carving out a major bottom after the dot-com collapse.

Was that the bottom or just a bottom along the way?

It doesn’t matter.

What matters is that this kind of violent back-and-forth action often signals the end of a directional move — in this case, the prolonged weakness in Software.

Now, when we zoom in, the short-term picture is starting to shift.

On Monday, $IGV just printed one of its strongest relative days versus the broader market.

That’s a clear momentum thrust — the kind you see when buyers begin to step back in.

To me, that suggests the worst is likely behind us, at least for now, and a bounce is underway.

And for swing traders, that’s all we need.

We trade what’s in front of us.

On Friday, I bought calls in $ORCL — the 5/15 $155s for $3.15.

By Tuesday those calls had traded up to $20.00, more than 500% in just two days. We took half off at a double and let the rest run.

Now we’re putting that capital back to work in a new setup that’s starting to develop.

Same process. Same playbook.
