Stock-Based Compensation Burden

Trading Term

Stock-based compensation burden measures the significance of employee equity awards relative to selected financial results. It can help investors evaluate compensation costs and potential dilution.

Stock-based compensation is noncash when initially recorded, but it transfers economic value from existing shareholders. Share repurchases used to offset equity issuance may also consume cash without reducing the outstanding share count.
