Cryptocurrencies have been a driver of recent excitement on Wall Street as investors have taken a break from the artificial intelligence theme and have incrementally move into modern, decentralized financial instruments, generally speaking. As a result, bitcoin has reached a fresh summer peak that was a whisker shy of 83k yesterday, almost a four-month high and its loftiest level since May 11. Against this backdrop, industry participants have been piling into “Yes” contracts for the “digital gold” which have appreciated meaningfully alongside the currency’s spot performance. Indeed, the “Yes” contracts asking if bitcoin will exceed 100k, 110k, 120k, and 130k at some point by year-end are going for $0.28, $0.21, $0.15 and $0.05. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the retail frenzy could be set for a comeback, as seen in prior cycles when bitcoin remains asleep for a prolonged period of time before taking off on a monster run.
