Contract Asset

Trading Term

A contract asset arises when a company has provided goods or services but cannot yet issue an unconditional invoice. The company may need to complete another contractual obligation before payment becomes due.

Rapid growth in contract assets may require closer examination when it substantially exceeds revenue growth or cash collections. The increase could reflect normal contract timing or more aggressive revenue recognition.
