Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)

A CBDC is a digital version of a country’s official currency issued and regulated by its central bank. Unlike cryptocurrencies, CBDCs are centralized and designed to maintain the stability and regulatory oversight of traditional money, while enabling faster, digital transactions.

Example: China’s digital yuan.
