Unit Economics

Trading Term

Unit economics examine the revenue, direct costs, and contribution generated by an individual business unit. The appropriate unit may be a customer, subscription, product, transaction, location, or delivery.

Positive unit economics may indicate that growth can create value, but overhead and investment requirements still matter. Investors should evaluate whether acquisition costs, retention rates, pricing, and margins remain stable as the business expands.
