Sales-to-Capital Ratio

Trading Term

The sales-to-capital ratio calculates the amount of revenue generated for each dollar of invested capital. Analysts may also use it to estimate the additional investment required to support projected revenue growth.

A higher ratio suggests that expansion may require less incremental capital. Appropriate levels differ by industry because factories, stores, inventory, technology infrastructure, and working-capital needs vary substantially.
