Maximum Extractable Value (MEV)

Trading Term

Maximum Extractable Value, or MEV, refers to the profit validators or block producers can generate by reordering, inserting, or censoring transactions within a block. Economically, it resembles latency arbitrage within block production. MEV can create execution risk and implicit costs for traders, making transaction ordering a material microstructure consideration in digital markets.
