51% Attack

Trading Term

A 51% attack occurs when a single entity controls a majority of a network’s validation or mining power, enabling transaction reordering or double-spending. While the attacker can disrupt transactions, they cannot steal funds from wallets or alter fundamental protocol rules. It represents a critical consensus security risk.
