  • To expedite the application process please provide a SCANNED image of your document. Photographs taken with cameras or smartphones can delay your account approval.

Glossary of Terms:

Source of Wealth: describes the origin of your financial standing or your total net worth. For example: inheritance, total accumulated assets or family wealth.

Source of Funds: describes the activity from which the funds have been generated to fund the account. Those activities may include details of employment, performance incentives such as bonus or business activities or sale of property.

What You Need – Documents (Individual and Joint Applicants in China)


Residents of China

Your National Identity Card provides both Proof of Identity AND Proof of Residential Address. If you submit your Chinese National Identity Card AND the address on it is the same as your current residential address stated on the application, you do not have to submit a separate document for your Proof of Residential Address. Be sure to upload both sides of your National Identity Card.

If you do not provide a National Identity Card, you must provide two separate documents, one for Proof of Identity and the other for Proof of Residential Address, as indicated in the table below.

Proof of Residential Address

The address on the document must be the same as the address you enter in your account application.

  • Broker Report
    The brokerage firm must be a US-registered broker-dealer or a US-registered broker-dealer's foreign affiliate. The account holder's country of residence must be a member of the Financial Action Task Force.

Note:

We can only accept documents which contain the Full Name, Current Residential Address, and Date of Birth. If the submitted documents are missing any of the required information or the documents are not clear enough, you will be requested to submit another document. If Name or Address registered in your application does not match with the submitted proof of IDs, IB may not be able to approve your application.

Your IDs need to be valid and they cannot be expired.

Certificates and utility bills need to be issued within the last 6 months.

Utility Bills must be stamped with a paid date and must include your name and current address.

  • Certified copy of a driver’s licence issued by an Australian State or Territory or a driver's licence of a foreign country (for example, a New Zealand driver’s licence). Category C
  • Certified copy of a notice issued by the Australian Taxation Office within the preceding 12 months that records a debt payable by the individual to the Commonwealth (or by the Commonwealth to the individual) under a Commonwealth law relating to taxation, which contains the individual’s name and residential address. Please ensure to block out the TFN.
  • Certified copy of a notice issued by the Commonwealth of Australia or State or Territory of Australia within the preceding 12 months that records the provision of financial benefits, which contains the individual’s name and residential address.
  • Certified copy of a notice issued by a local government body (e.g., local council) or public utilities provider within the preceding 3 months which records the provision of services and contains the individual’s name and residential address.

Approved Certifiers

  • An authorised/licensed/registered notary public;
  • A Justice of the Peace with a registration number*;
  • A person who is enrolled on the roll of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory, or the High Court of Australia, as a legal practioner (however described) (e.g. a solictor barrister);
