Interactive Brokers - IB Communique
Low cost, breadth of product, and technology innovation consistently drive our progress at IB, and continue to provide unique advantages to our customers. We've highlighted several of our recent developments below, and invite you to visit us at interactivebrokers.com to learn more.
Do Your Friend a Favor
As an IB customer, you already know that Interactive Brokers offers low cost, best execution and direct market access to over 100 market centers worldwide. In fact, we were ranked Best Online Broker by Barron's in 20121, including being named Low Cost Broker for the eighth year in a row.2 Now our customers can share those advantages with their friends and earn extra money at the same time.
Barron's Award
With our new Trader Referral Program*, IB customers who
invite a friend to open an Interactive Brokers account can earn up to $200.

Our US-based customers will earn a flat fee of $200 for each referred person who maintains an active IB account for one year. Our non-US customers will earn 30% of commissions for the referred account up to $200. Refer as many friends as you can and receive a bonus for each referred person.

To participate, log into Account Management and access Trader Referral from the Manage Account menu. Enter the name and email address of a friend and IB will send them an electronic invitation to open an account.

*This offer is not currently available to customers who reside in Spain.
Institutional Offerings
Examine Our Institutional Offerings
Many of our individual customers work for firms that could benefit from IB's services. We provide full-service institutional offerings for professional advisors, registered brokers and FCMs, proprietary trading groups, hedge and mutual funds. Our EmployeeTrack account for compliance groups tracks and reports employee trade activity.

We encourage you to take a look at our Institutional web site and see if our comprehensive offerings might benefit your firm.
Statements and Reports Updates
We have enhanced our statements and reports offerings with the following:
  • Simplified Statements
A new default statement, the Default Summary, now appears in the Statements drop-down list on the Activity Statements page in Account Management. Available for daily and monthly statements and for statements with a custom date range, the Default Summary is a simple summary statement that includes only the NAV Summary, Profit and Loss Summary, Account Detail: Positions and Trades and Cash report sections. Trade activity is displayed on a single line by underlying. Sample daily and monthly Default Summary statements are available on our website.
  • P&L Markup Calculation Summary
The P&L Markup Calculation Summary is available on the Advisor Broker Summaries page in the Report Management menu in Account Management. It is a summary of client profit and loss (P&L) used to determine quarterly and annual performance fees paid to an Advisor for a single client account or for all client accounts. Only an Advisor can access and run this report.
Statements and Reports
Tax Optimizer: Year to Date Summary
Tax Optimizer allows customers to match sales and purchases and see the impact of such matches on capital gains and losses. We have recently added the YTD Summary, which will display the Year-to-Date Realized and Unrealized P&L by underlying (i.e. all P&L across AAPL stocks, options, etc will be grouped under AAPL). Unrealized P&L is calculated using the previous market close price and is not calculated for positions opened in the current day.

For more information on managing your capital gains with the IB Tax Optimizer, see the Tax Optimizer Users' Guide .
Technical Updates
Efforts over the past several months have resulted in many enhancements to our trading technology. The top enhancements described below are just a few of the latest group of updates. Please visit the Documentation section of IB's Traders' University for a comprehensive list of all technology release updates.

TWS
  • Financial Summary Fundamentals
Reuters subscribers can access the new Financial Summary view from the Fundamentals window. The Financial Summary displays a six-year chart in the top half of the window, and a table in the bottom half showing annual and quarterly Revenue, EPA, and Dividends for 24 quarters. Checkboxes along the top of the chart allow you to easily plot or hide the stock price, revenue, EPS, and dividends. A pull-down toggle lets you quickly change the display to show quarterly values or trailing 12 months of data. Hold your mouse over a fundamental data point in the chart to see the details of the data point including the date, stock price, revenue, EPS and dividends. Data is currently limited to US-traded stocks.
  • Market Scanner Templates
The Market Scanner now allows you to save your scan parameters as a template and reuse the template anytime you open the Market Scanner window. To save a scan as a template, click the "Save" disk icon next to the Max Results window in the scanner, and select Save Template. Enter a descriptive name for the scanner template. To use a saved template, click the "Save" disk icon and select Load Template. Choose the template to display and click Open.
  • IB Risk Navigator - Trade from What-If Portfolio
The Risk Navigator, IB's real-time market-risk management platform that provides a comprehensive measure of risk exposure across multiple asset classes around the globe, now allows you to trade from within the hypothetical "what-if" portfolio. In addition, a new column allows you to include or exclude "what-if" positions in the total risk assessment.
  • BookTrader Support for Instantaneous Order Transmission
Support for single-click order transmission has been reinstated in the BookTrader. Customers can now elect to turn off the Order Confirmation by selecting "Don't show this popup dialog again" when they click in the ladder to create an order. Once the order confirmation message is turned off, clicking in the price ladder will instantaneously submit an order at the specified price.

mobileTWS
  • Support for Multiple Languages in iPhone, iPad versions
mobileTWS now supports multiple languages including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The language is determined by the localization setting in your iOS.

WebTrader
  • Streaming and Delayed Market Data Now Available
Beginning with the release of WebTrader 8.0, streaming and delayed market data are now available. Previously, market data was refreshed every ten seconds. Streaming market data is supported in the latest web browsers only. If your web browser does not support streaming market data in WebTrader, your market data will be refreshed every ten seconds. Delayed market data is available for contracts for which you do not currently hold market data subscriptions.
PortfolioAnalyst Client Synopses
We continue to focus on adding new functionality to the PortfolioAnalyst, our online reporting tool that allows investors to evaluate the performance of their IB portfolio against industry benchmarks.
Portfolio Analyst
Advisor and Broker accounts can now submit report synopses to their clients. A synopsis is a personalized, client-specific message attached to a PortfolioAnalyst report as a description or addendum to the report's content. Multiple synopses can be created and attached to different reports.

For details, see the PortfolioAnalyst section of the Account Management Users' Guide .

Earn Additional Yield on Fully-Paid Stock
Earn Additional Yield on Your Fully-Paid Stock
Did you know that you can earn additional yield on stock you own by allowing your fully-paid shares to be loaned out? Many stocks are attractive to traders who want to sell them short, and who therefore need to borrow them. IB's Stock Yield Enhancement Program earns you extra income on your fully-paid stocks by allowing IB to borrow them from you and then lend them out to other IB customers or in the securities lending market. Every day that your stock is loaned out, you will be paid a loan fee based on market rates. You will pay a percentage of this to IB (currently 50%) as a fee for managing the program.

To find out how easy it can be to earn extra income on your fully-paid shares, see the IB Stock Yield Enhancement Program highlights page.
Commission-Free Trading
Global X Fund ETFs are available commission-free at Interactive Brokers.

Hedge Fund Capital Investing through your IB Account
Last summer we introduced our Hedge Fund investing program, which allows qualifying customers to research and invest in participating funds through IB's online Hedge Fund Investor site. Since that time we have registered 11 participating funds and the number is growing. The program is open to Accredited Investors and Qualified Purchasers under SEC rules, and is already being used successfully by many IB customers. Once you have made your investment decision and signed the proper documentation, you can easily transfer funds in your IB account to and from the Hedge Fund.

To find out more, visit the highlights page on our website. Eligible investors can access the Hedge Fund Investor Site from the Trading Access menu in Account Management .
