# Installation

## Create and fund an IBKR Pro Account

An IBKR Pro account is required to use the TWS API. If you don't already have one, creat an account below.

Create Account

## Trader Workstation

Download Trader Workstation

## Download the TWS API

> **Warning**
>
> Ensure that the API installs to the C: drive.

Download TWS API

## Configure Trader Workstation Settings

1. Launch TWS

2. Log in

3. Open settings (gear icon in top right)

4. Configure the following:

* Enable "ActiveX and Socket Clients"
* Disable "Read-Only API"
* Verify the "Socket Port" value
