Nonetheless, large-scale military action began on 28 February. If you had then asked how long the conflict would endure, few would have predicted no end in sight in late September. The implications are significant. Space does not permit us to explore them all, but two recent discussions with energy experts offered some useful perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cbiggest question\u201d for the team at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/link.dealclouddispatch.com\/ls\/click?upn=u001.qbwLc-2BqKzU00tPRzBJ2JkzXOsvdhuehfjG-2Fy5Ur59Ny30btaAB5orcAI1RLzBwnk28xz_4SXpRP5KRSUOp-2FQJkTxfxk87Kyl5l1J6rNEPsBMAnw9oXtfzUWKtEHpmpyAeDrGuyDsypShCgJsIMwUtXYGtdA3OZKnhGOyG23b6SLgrPkoXx0I-2F1eadNneaDo4THgkMP3F1-2B-2BdpU9dUi6oM4kpjLdQNQjRf5Uiz-2FdGsfJfT-2FNKNNTeuJlmuYp3s8ftG1KP66kYi6A0A-2FLLE4REViJUIarDe2kCV8KQj5aEnWSN-2FWY0B8tmwtk-2BX-2F59YKzclqmk3ceq-2F9BZgiTQMLqgKSWQbARwjTk9doQv8sWzc76E-2BC8GzYrmpAz-2F8BeZ05Abb1bDdlprpFJouEVRqOBOx9OJHFO-2FE6mrFrj-2BaM5Ph9LxRl0M-3D__;!!FDKD93KylVk2!5auDZqUUrHBIGc_YClXPJ_V1YOI1hCGjchRDO3Hf8EvbWO_9-uyuynruVewkDQD5rHasdS70FA1zIo17ofQe3pwVp318rCI2l5esglIs$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bloomberg New Energy Finance<\/a>&nbsp;(a strategic research division of Bloomberg) is&nbsp;<strong>how long the Strait of Hormuz remains shuttered. A \u2018base case\u2019 assumption is a November re-opening<\/strong>, whereas a \u2018prolonged\u2019 scenario may see no change in current circumstances until next January. Meanwhile&nbsp;<strong>a \u2018severe\u2019 outcome would be a reopening only in April 2027<\/strong>. These outcomes were outlined in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/link.dealclouddispatch.com\/ls\/click?upn=u001.qbwLc-2BqKzU00tPRzBJ2Jk70wPecFGN7cfGE-2Bm7KXAEBqy0OgBl-2BRY45VUA5v-2BX64jhb4TbyqreGGvBw1532NR-2BleTVFAZKEbzQceH2uLTIc-3Dd9QB_4SXpRP5KRSUOp-2FQJkTxfxk87Kyl5l1J6rNEPsBMAnw9oXtfzUWKtEHpmpyAeDrGuyDsypShCgJsIMwUtXYGtdA3OZKnhGOyG23b6SLgrPkoXx0I-2F1eadNneaDo4THgkMP3F1-2B-2BdpU9dUi6oM4kpjLdQNQjRf5Uiz-2FdGsfJfT-2FNKNNTeuJlmuYp3s8ftG1KP6qW0ZkPNWe8286shg7HLcMQUyHCgNY1I6OLLavi3OfNnJABfNR5Tb5CzLi8EVu3ecGQMo0aULQK5rdJmnX2bVvQ2FDzDvFgXYyqL-2Ft0Ofk9d-2B9n9Ufu31sJ0MzTHrLeznPJ9tFaA6fMw-2BpPCOsWKOdbvi-2BjOeKuvJckYjF95FV1I-3D__;!!FDKD93KylVk2!5auDZqUUrHBIGc_YClXPJ_V1YOI1hCGjchRDO3Hf8EvbWO_9-uyuynruVewkDQD5rHasdS70FA1zIo17ofQe3pwVp318rCI2lxCnqe0Y$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent webinar<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the base case scenario, liquefied natural&nbsp;<strong>gas supplies&nbsp;<em>out of&nbsp;<\/em>the Middle East remain \u201ctight but manageable\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;and work on the assumption that buyers \u2013 especially those in Europe \u2013 are not exposed to a cold winter of increasing fuel demands. Europe\u2019s challenges are exacerbated by the restrictions imposed by the European Union on procuring Russian gas, given the ongoing Ukraine war. It seems likely that&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;nations across the world will need to diversify<\/strong>, particularly into nuclear (for baseload needs) and renewables<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Countries therefore need to step on the metaphorical gas pedal.
