95% of all data breaches are caused by <\/strong>human error<\/a><\/strong>. Yes, you read that correctly. And if you\u2019ve been following our work, you will know we have been saying for over a decade<\/a> that data have no value unless they are secured, stored and analysed. Cybercrime will cost the world $10.5tr in 2025,<\/strong> a more than threefold increase compared to a decade ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cybersecurity has never mattered more. Against this background, your author checked in with two cyber experts for their key 2026 cyber predictions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First up was Heptagon\u2019s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), whom we featured in post #12<\/a> this year. Artificial intelligence is changing the rules of the cyber game, for both attackers and defenders. The solution? Zero Trust paired with next generation encryption<\/strong>. Think of this as a layered defence strategy that makes cyberattacks much harder. Imagine a house where every door checks your ID constantly (Zero Trust) and every valuable inside it is locked in an ultra-secure safe (next-generation encryption). This is a \u201cpower combination\u201d according to our CTO. Businesses that ignore it will be \u201csitting ducks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also caught up with the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Harmonic Security<\/a>, whom we profiled in post #39<\/a>. Our conversation again focused on how AI will be front of mind for all businesses. We will see the \u201cconsumerisation\u201d of the technology in the next year. In 2026, many employees will get access to even more powerful tools that will further improve their workflows. However, AI governance and security will remain \u201ckey challenges,\u201d<\/strong> especially in terms of keeping critical data within organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is hard to disagree with any of the above. Were your author asked for his prediction on the topic then he would add the following: if we accept that 2026 will only see further growth in agentic AI, then all businesses will need to think harder about how they secure their agents<\/strong> and what (sensitive) information they are provided with.
