<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Futures gapped higher overnight after OPEC+ moved ahead with their +137k bpd hike as planned. While far less than what some had reported on, it was pretty well known this was going to be the result, especially since this was a \u201cJMMC\u201d meeting which generally don\u2019t result in sizeable production changes. The increased reliance on AI by reporters and talking heads in financial markets is creating a bad information loop that\u2019s becoming more and more prevalent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aiding in the gap higher were Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. The Ukrainians successfully hit Russia\u2019s second-largest oil refinery and an export terminal over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s kinetic sanctions on Russian oil will continue to pressure prices upwards, while the weak macroeconomic situation and potential end to the fighting in Gaza will pressure prices downwards. As we talked about last week, for the first time since the onset of the Gaza conflict, there\u2019s a real light at the end of the tunnel for this coming to a real end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical Analysis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Futures failed above the 61.87*** level overnight but are holding the 61.46*** firm this morning. The holding of that 61.46*** level is key to rebuilding some bullish momentum. A failure here would decrease our confidence on the long side. We still favor longs at these levels and view risk as being skewed to the upside.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
