Please consult a financial advisor for investment recommendations and services.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1\">1\/<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Crypto Lesson 2 &#8211; Dominance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A very important aspect in cryptocurrencies is dominance, and in this case the most relevant is Bitcoin dominance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Dominance refers to the weight a coin has in the market and is calculated by dividing the market cap of the coin by the total crypto market cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a close relationship between the price and dominance of Bitcoin versus the price of altcoins, which we will see in the following table. By definition, altcoins (alternative coins) are all cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. In the following chart, we can see how Bitcoin\u2019s dominance fell from 65% to 60%, while the price of Bitcoin rose by 27%. In contrast, the price of Ethereum increased much more than Bitcoin\u2019s, rising by 88% in this case. This usually happens in a bull market, when investors see greater upside potential in other coins than in Bitcoin. As a result, Bitcoin\u2019s dominance falls while its price rises, which in turn makes the price of altcoins, in this case Ethereum, rise much more. This is because, in a bear market, investors seek refuge in the most stable cryptocurrency, which is Bitcoin. In contrast, during a bull market, investors look for higher returns and are therefore willing to take on more risk, which leads them to invest in other cryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin. It measures Bitcoin\u2019s sentiment in the crypto market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The components of this metric are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Volatility \u2013 25%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Market Momentum \u2013 25%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Media \u2013 15%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surveys \u2013 15%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dominance\u2013 10%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trends \u2013 10%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extreme Fear (0\u201324): Buying Opportunity (red)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fear (25\u201349) (orange)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greed (50\u201374) (light green)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extreme Greed (75\u2013100): Selling Opportunity (dark green)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The best strategy is always to go against the market; that is, if everyone is bearish, you should buy, and if everyone is buying, you should sell.
