Labor conditions began to strengthen in mid-July as employers became more aggressive as it relates to hiring, but a jump to 7.8 million in tomorrow\u2019s job openings indicator is too much of a stretch. The consensus envisions a decline to 7.4 million from 7.44 million, however, while I estimate an increase to 7.5 million. And in a Reuters poll, answers from 22 professional forecasters ranged from a minimum of 7.03 million to a maximum of 7.56 million, meaning that none of the projections support a climb of that magnitude. In light of my expectation and the downward bias of other economists, I find the risk-reward profile of the \u201cNo\u201d<\/a> answer at the 7.8 million threshold attractive at $0.88. I\u2019m avoiding the other thresholds at 7.2, 7.4 and 7.6 because of this gauge having an elevated deviation rate and a huge miss could occur although I don\u2019t see that happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining Interactive Brokers, Jos\u00e9 spent 6 years working as an economist in the United States government within the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). During his time with the U.S. government, Jos\u00e9 frequently led presentations covering economic conditions and forecasts for elected officials, political appointees and senior management. He also built economic models, consulted with private sector executives, contributed to the modernization of economic processes and gained recognition for predicting the inflationary episode of the 2020s. Jos\u00e9 has also been a professor of economics at the City University of New York and holds a master\u2019s degree in financial economics from West Texas A&M University.
