A huge chunk of the open interest is at the 2.4% threshold, while trading of the 2.5% and 2.6% levels has also been active. Indeed, the CPI is one of the most popular indicators within our IBKR ForecastTrader prediction market and for good reason, since inflation has been a significant theme in the past few years and is especially important in the present as folks are attentive to potential price changes driven by global trade disagreements. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, distinct estimates from various entities for the headline number are similar. For example, our IBKR ForecastTrader prediction market points to a 2.5% annualized reading, equal to the Cleveland Fed\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clevelandfed.org\/indicators-and-data\/inflation-nowcasting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inflation Nowcasting tool<\/a>. But the Wall Street consensus estimate is slightly higher at 2.6%. Speculators and hedgers alike may initiate positions consistent with their views and existing holdings.
