These credits help reduce the taxpayer\u2019s overall tax liability, either by providing a direct reduction in taxes owed or by increasing the taxpayer\u2019s refund. The most common dependent-related credits include the <strong>Child Tax Credit (CTC)<\/strong>, the <strong>Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)<\/strong>, and the <strong>Child and Dependent Care Credit<\/strong>. These credits aim to reduce the financial burden on families, particularly those with children or dependents who may have additional caregiving or financial responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Child Tax Credit (CTC)<\/strong>, for example, provides a credit per qualifying child under the age of 17, and can be especially beneficial to lower- and middle-income families. The <strong>Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)<\/strong> provides a credit based on both income and the number of dependents, helping working families with lower incomes keep more of their earnings. Additionally, the <strong>Child and Dependent Care Credit<\/strong> helps offset the costs of care for children or dependents while the taxpayer works or looks for work.
