TWS Notes for 880
The enhancements
and modifications below are in build 880 of TWS. To identify
the build number, on the TWS Help menu
select About Trader Workstation.
Please note that effective January 1, 2008, TWS will only run on Java 5.0 or higher. If you have not upgraded yet, from now through the end of the year you will receive a message when you log in encouraging you to upgrade before this cutoff date. Also, if you are running a version of Java lower than 1.4, TWS will require you to update before you can log in.
The Trader Dashboard now includes a Custom Label feature that lets you customize and abbreviate the item names on your dashboard. To modify label names, click the Configure wrench to open Trader Dashboard configuration. Select an Item label from the Display Item list and click the Change Label button. Enter a new name for the item and save.
The interactive Charts feature has been enhanced to include:
- The "Move Selected Trendline" functionality has been substantially improved and renamed "Edit Selected Trendline" to reflect its enhanced functionality. A selected trendline will now display a white square at either end. When you click and pull an end, you can rotate the trendline 360 degrees, and shorten or lengthen the line. Clicking in the line area still allows you to move the trendline while maintaining the same length and angle to the chart. Right-clicking the trendline allows you to change the color of the line, the thickness of the line, or remove the line.
- The ability to "share trendlines among charts" when you create multiple charts of the same instrument in one frame. When this feature is enabled, any changes you make to trendlines in one chart (adding/deleting/moving) are automatically propogated to all charts of the same instrument in that window.
- The option to turn off labeling or order lines in a chart that may disrupt the view of the bars. This is handled through a new checkbox in the Settings area of the chart's global configuration.
- The ability to modify the highlight colors for Last, Bid, Ask, High, and Low prices along the price axis of
a chart. To change colors, use the Chart Colors area of the chart's global configuration.
The Notes field allows you to jot down free-form text information on a ticker line, and saves your notation between TWS sessions. However, system-created pages like the Pending page and the Portfolio page are dynamically created on startup and do not save notes text like other pages. Going forward, the Notes field will no longer be editable on these system-generated pages since any text entered is lost when you log out of TWS.
The contract description (which can be viewed by right-clicking a contract and selecting Contract Info then Description) has been expanded to include the industry, industry category and industry sub-category (where applicable).
All areas that used the term "Executions" now use the term "Trades." This change includes all windows and menus, such as the Executions window (now the "Trades" window) and the "Executions" entry on the View menu (now the "Trade" entry).
Market data lines with "SuperSOES" as the destination will automatically be changed to "Island" to reflect Island's merge with Nasdaq.
The following issues have been fixed in build 880 of TWS:
- The wait time for multiple incorrect login attempts has been capped to a 5 minute maximum.
- Bid/Ask charts did not display correctly when Show Trades was checked and the trade had not yet executed.
- The Store Settings on Server feature would dynamically recheck or uncheck itself based on your last action, when you logged in. This has been fixed so that if you uncheck the box and log in, it remains unchecked.
- The Account field has been re-instated to the Trades report, to allow trades to be sorted by account. This field was removed accidentally.
- In the Account window for Advisors, the scroll bar for the list of accounts was not working, and the list did not show the complete number of accounts.
- The import feature for importing contracts to TWS via a text file was expecting a "0" or "1" rather than a P or C to designate a put or call. Consequently all options were being incorrectly imported as calls. This has been fixed.
